may be ur attorney thinks u will get EAD before Jan'08.
ask him what if u won't get EAD, with this mad # of EAD filings this month.
may be he is too busy with 485 filings. ask him if he will file after Aug17th
im in the same boat except my H1 is until Sep'07. my attorney is preparing to file 3 yr xtn.

Or you guys think I should go ahead and stamp a visa (too much hassel/time/money involved though)?
I don't see any benefit as I will continue to renew my H1-B, AP and EAD.. so I f I can reenter using AP then why go through so much pain to H1-B visa stamp? Please advice if I am misunderstanding or missing anything...

Worry about it after the fact.
Technically you can maintain both PR...esp. if you live & commute in one of the border cities like Vancouver, Windsor. But at one point, you may have to decide which citizenship you want.
To maintain future growth, Canada has to rely heavily on immigration - thats one of the reason, its easy to get Canadian PR.
Depending on your priorities, it may be worthwhile to continue maintaining Canadian PR after you get US GC. (for e.g Canada allows sponsor of immediate relatives as a PR while you have to wait for US citizenship of the same. Also getting Canadian citizenship takes 3 years as opposed to 5 in the US)
that being said, the Canadian economy lives in the shadow of US & finding jobs I have heard is difficult in Canada.

BTW....one can now apply directly to NSC or TSC as per the state they are applying from. This memo became effective June 21 and is mandatory starting July 30.

Also, I would be getting married in 5 months in India and my Wife would come with me after that. Can I include her after she comes here? Is there anything that I would be aware off. Please advice. I went to that site and downloaded those brushes. They worked great. You can just keep thowing thigs onto the canvas untill you have some crazy weird dark Image. I'm working on some stuff with them so I'll post it soon. Thanks for the great link:)

My understanding is:
I think in VA you are partially protected against the non compete law.
If contract says it is limited to maximum of 2 years and you can not work for some specific companies, unfortunately non comptete law is valid.
But VA gives a write to earn for your living. If you can proove that if you might not have taken this job, you would not be able to earn. Only you can challenge the non compete law.
Search on google, you might get good reasonable description of non compete law in VA.

Yes. You are in status. Filing for I-485 provides you legal status. If you are without project for too long, transferring H1b might not be an option. But you can work on EAD. You will not be out of status.
Good luck with your job hunt.
Status should not be a problem, but double check with a lawyer. I'm wondering if you can squeeze a sponsorship for a trip home. Not very long ago, I found out that if a US employer terminates a H1, they need to pay the home country relocation costs.
You should find another job, sooner the better. But I sure would like to get such bad desi consultant companies to pay for a plane ticket.

Who knows , we might be in luck since on the 'go-live' date a bug in the system might set the PD to a date in the future and we will first flood them applications and when they deny to accept them then fllod them with flowers to force our applications down their throat like last time .

Glad to see your initiatives. But our focus should be different.
The Economy is in very bad shape. Unemployement is rising. At this moment any bill that ask for GC number increase won't pass. We need to wait for atleast few months.
In the meantime as a temprory releif we should push the "Country quoto elimination bill" that does not increase GC numbers.
Also please take a look at my plan that I presented couple of weeks earlier. It is a compromise bill and I feel it has the best chance to pass during lameduck session. My plan gives at least some releif to people waiting for 7 years or waiting for months with PD current.
Please keep the spirit alive. Thanks.
